  First of all , our first impression of the apartment from the photos in the Airbnb website was the complete opposite from the actual apartment.
When we first arrived... read more , it was very hard finding the apartment itself because no one came to us and the owner didn’t answer the phone, so we had to wait for at least 20 minutes. When we finally got into the apartment we noticed that there’s no pool and there’s a small hot tub that we couldn’t even use because it was dirty. Another unfortunate thing is the location- there is a nice view to the sea but there’s also a cemetery right in-front the apartment and that wasn’t mentioned in the website. Accept the view, there’s no transfer in the area and it’s one hour walk to the old town. Getting a taxi is very hard because they’re always unavailable and there’s no taxi stations in the area so it’s really uncomfortable to get everywhere especially to the old town. And if that’s not enough, the beds are very uncomfortable so we couldn’t even sleep well. Overall it’s not bad apartment but it’s definitely not as it looks in the website so don’t come with high expectations.

  We had such an enjoyable and relaxing time at Elias' house. The house is huge. We are a family of six and everyone managed to have a space to call... read more their own. The kids loved reading or playing chess in the nook which gave adults free reign of the comfortable couches in the living room. The layout of the house was great. It was not exactly as pictured though -- there was no hammock or daybed outside for lounging but they did replace them with a very nice large table for eating outdoors on the huge balcony. While the pictures might give the impression of design and luxury...and the description leads one to believe that the area is (Website hidden by Airbnb) was not that. The area is residential with a lot of unfinished construction in the area. The market nearby operates only on the weekend, I believe. I would recommend a car to visit sights and beaches. That being said, the old town was a 6 minute drive from the property. This is a spacious, comfortable home filled with heart. Elias was very available online and replied very quickly to any question we had. Elias' parents live downstairs. His mother kindly waited up for us when we needed to check in late in the evening. His father came up to put chlorine tabs in the pool and make sure everything was clean for our use. We felt taken care of. They are a warm and lovely family. We took advantage of the washing machine and wifi. Both worked well and they provided a little washing soap which was great. Elias also has a separate business as an adventure guide offering experiences like rock climbing, windsurfing, etc and really knows the island. I would recommend taking advantage of this knowledge for the best experience of the natural beauty of Rhodes. Overall, I was so impressed with the kindness and relaxed attitude of the Rhodian people who seem to be in beachwear whenever possible....a lovely soothing trip for the heart.
